1.Who we are
Mountain Injury Foundation is a not-for-profit company registered in Nepal (registration 312117/79/080), based in Kathmandu. We are responsible for the personal information you share through this website.
2.What we collect
We only ask for what we need to do what you've asked. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:
- Contact messages: your name, email, optional phone number and organisation, and your message.
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email, and your name and phone number if you choose to give them.
- Donation pledges: your name, email, the amount and programme you chose, and any note you add. We don't collect card details on this site.
- Emergency requests: your contact details and the information you give us about the person who needs help, which may include details about their health.
- Event sign-ups: your name, a phone number or email, and where you're based.
3.How we use it
We use your information to reply to you, process your gift or sign-up, send the updates you asked for and keep accurate records for our auditors. We never sell or rent personal information.
4.Emergency requests
When you send an emergency request, we share the details with the rescue teams, helicopter operators, police and hospitals involved in helping the person concerned. We do this because someone's life or health may be at risk.
5.Who else sees your information
Our staff and trained volunteers see what they need for their role. We also use a small number of service providers, such as our email and hosting providers, who process data on our behalf and under our instructions.
6.How long we keep it
We keep contact messages for up to two years, donation records for as long as Nepali law requires for financial records, and newsletter details until you unsubscribe. Rescue records are kept in anonymised form for research and safety planning.
7.Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in every email.
8.Cookies
This website uses only the cookies it needs to work, such as keeping staff signed in to the admin area. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
9.Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
