Healed is not the same as back on their feet.

An injury on the mountain can take away a guide's strength, a porter's living and a family's income. We help people rebuild all three, for as long as it takes.

How we help people rebuild

Three things an injury takes. Three things we help give back.

Every plan is different, but most rest on the same three pieces. We work on them together, because getting strong again means little without a way to earn and a family that can hold on.

  1. A porter carrying a load across boulders below a snow peak01

    Strength

Physical rehabilitation that gets people moving again, close to home wherever we can.

    What it covers

    • Physiotherapy and exercise plans
    • Prosthetics and mobility aids
    • Frostbite and fracture follow-up
  2. Guides carrying heavy loads across a boulder field02

    Livelihood

A road back to the work they love, or the skills for new work when the mountain is no longer an option.

    What it covers

    • A gradual return to guiding
    • Training for a new trade
    • Introductions to employers
  3. Children from a Himalayan village sitting together03

    Family

Support for the people at home who lose an income while someone they love heals.

    What it covers

    • Help with household costs
    • Keeping children in school
    • Counselling for the whole family

Our promise

An injury on the mountain should never cost a family its future.

  1. 01

For as long as it takes

Rehabilitation runs on the survivor's timeline, not on a funding cycle.

  2. 02

    Close to home

Therapy, training and support in or near their own valley, so no one has to leave their community to recover.

  3. 03

    Decided together

Each plan is built with the survivor and their family, and changes as they do.

One journey, three stages

We stay with people from the moment something goes wrong on the mountain until they're back on their feet at home.
