Learning to walk again: rehabilitation after severe frostbite

One climber's year-long road back, and the physiotherapy programme that supported every step.

When Dawa was brought down from the South Col last spring, doctors were not sure he would keep his feet. A year later, he is walking the trail to his village again.

His recovery took two surgeries, months of wound care, and a physiotherapy plan built around the steep terrain he would eventually return to.

“The first time I climbed the stairs at the clinic, I cried. It was only twelve steps, but it felt like a summit.”

A long road, supported

Our rehabilitation fund covered Dawa's physiotherapy, transport to appointments, and a monthly stipend for his family while he could not work. It is support we want every injured mountain worker to be able to count on.
