Altitude illness is easier to treat the earlier it's caught, and nowhere sees more of it than the climb to Thorang La. This three-day course runs at the pass itself, so every skill is practised where it will be used.

Over the three days

  • Day one: how the body reacts to altitude, and the early signs in yourself and others
  • Day two: treatment in the field: oxygen, medication and the portable altitude chamber
  • Day three: full scenarios, from the first symptom to the handover to a rescue team

Everyone who completes the course receives a certificate and joins our list of trained first responders on the Annapurna circuit.
